Aye chand shup na jana – Lata Mangeshkar – a Video tribute to Kanan Devi ..Madhubala

Lata Ji has rendered a great contribution to the hindi music by singing old, rare and forgotten songs as Shraddhanjali, a tribute to old great singers. She has revived the interest of new generation in these songs. It is a priceless gift to Hindi music lovers. Kannan Devi Ji in movie Jawab (1942) sang it so beautifully and Lata Ji has enhanced its charm. I have tried to augment the delight of this melody by portraying enchanting Madhubala and Dilip Kumar on the video. Mr. Kamal Dasgupta, a great composer of his time, has composed the subtle melody. Kamal Dasgupta (1912-1974) a singer, Nazrul song's composer and music director, was born on 28 July 1912 in Narail, Jessore. Kamal Dasgupta matriculated in 1928 from Calcutta Academy and later completed B Com from comilla victoria college. He earned his doctorate in Music (1943) from Benaras Hindu University for his work on Mira Bai, the composer and singer of bhajans. His early inspiration came from his father, Tara Prasanna Dasgupta. He took his first music lessons from his brother, Bimal Dasgupta. Later he studied under dilip kumar roy, Kana Kesta, and Ustad jamiruddin khan. Kamal Dasgupta was a versatile musical genius. He sang modern songs in Bangla, Urdu, Hindi, and Tamil. He was also a brilliant composer, composing the music for about eight thousand songs.
